Waxing Cosmic

the left one mentions something uncomfortable
the right one is thinking about the moon, and its size
the middle one is waxing cosmic, dismissing
the smaller things and thinking big

these kids without big bags
walk duckedley down the sidewalk
calling their friends
weaning them off of
day old milk treats

paint chips line the pockets of the sullen slouch.
the ethical sulfurs bubble from swollen mouths,
subtly fumigating the homes of the citizens.
capturing the steam later,
they keep it all in mason jars.

these days
they mention uncomfortable things together
they think about the moon together
they wax cosmic together, dismissing
the smaller things and thinking big
